Hootin' for Wooten

Feel the bass at the HOB

New Year's resolution: "Get more in tune with the basics of life." Well, get resolved. The House of Blues has your bass-ics funkin' into town Thursday as bass legend Victor Wooten takes the stage. Most know him as the bassist for Nashville's Grammy Award-winning jazz-funk-bluegrass-swing super-group Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, but Wooten has built his own solid reputation as a multi-award-winning solo performer, recording artist and bass innovator. (He started playing before the age of 3—how's that for greatness?) This road warrior's at home recording and touring with [name any great jazz, soul, rock group here] when he's not teaching bass technique or wilderness survival (!) back home in Tennessee. Come jam with the man 8 p.m. Thursday at 2200 N. Lamar St., Dallas. Call 214-978-BLUE or visit hob.com/dallas.
