Lone Star Park offers serious fireworks

By Glenna Whitley

Published on July 03, 2008

Fast horses, gambling, fireworks and the chance to win a new car. Sounds like Wheel of Fortune when Vanna's showing her cleavage. On Thursday and Friday celebrate Independence Day at Lone Star Park with spectacular pyrotechnics. Visit a North Texas Ford dealer anytime through July 2 and grab a "Lone Star Park Trackpack," which gets you two general admission tickets, a parking coupon, and an entry form. On Thursday, fill out the entry and submit it at the park by 7:30 p.m. After the last horses have scampered home, 10 participants chosen at random get to pick a key. One opens the door of a new Ford Mustang. Fireworks ensue! On Friday, grab an entry form at the admissions gate, deposit it in a contest bin by 2 p.m., and hang around to find out if you've won a trip for two to the Nextel Cup race in Miami. More fireworks! Bounce house, petting zoo, arts and crafts. And did we mention fireworks? General admission is $3 at Lone Star Park, 1000 Lone Star Parkway in Grand Prairie. Call 972-263-7223 or 1-800-795-7223.
