After the New Year’s Eve parties and the champagne and the countdown I always feel like I’m missing something. There’s something I never can put my finger on, something that got left out or behind. Then I bolt up from sweaty slumber and realize: I didn’t hear a polka or a waltz or any celebratory music fit for New Year’s celebration by a famous European composer. Dallas Symphony Orchestra to the rescue. The DSO and Jaap van Zweden fill in all the gaps with Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 5, Strauss Jr.’s “On the Beautiful Blue Danube” and more Thursday through Sunday at the Meyerson. Tickets are $17 to $110. Call 214-692-0203 or visit DallasSymphony.com.
