We know — the economic times are hard. We believe that our work of reporting on the critical stories unfolding right now is more important than ever.

We need to raise $6,000 to meet our goal by August 10. If you’re able to make a contribution of any amount, your dollars will make an immediate difference in helping ensure the future of local journalism in Dallas. Thanks for reading the Dallas Observer.

‘Tis the season for glitz and glam at the Dallas Symphony. On Saturday, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s 2014 AT&T Gala brings an opportunity not only to hear great music, but also to slip into a formal gown, sip champagne and get your groove on in the Meyerson Symphony Center’s elegant lobby. The DSO’s gala is mostly about schmoozing and boozing, but you’ll also hear some beautiful music. For this year’s gala concert, the orchestra welcomes legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman as their special guest soloist. Tickets to the concert and after-party (which features the always-enthusiastic DJ Lucy Wrubel) range from $49-$499. This year, if you want to skip the formal wear all together and really save your pennies, you can watch a live simulcast of the concert at Klyde Warren Park for free. For tickets to the gala and more information, visit the orchestra’s website at mydso.com. The Meyerson Symphony Center is located at 2301 Flora Street in the downtown Dallas arts district.
