Imagine our delight to find an art exhibition that focuses on life as affected by contemporary media. Except, well, it isn't so much media proper (newspapers and the like), so our egos weren't stroked as much as we'd like...but hey, a nod is a nod, right? Anyway, 500X hosts Open Terrain, a four-artist group show featuring Thomas Feulmer, Keri Oldham, Brian Spolans and Kyle Warren. According to the gallery, the artists individually attempt to "evaluate the minutiae of modern-day living and humanness" through their life-versus-media examination and via various artistic methods. The group gains inspiration from sources ranging from figurines to personal ads, from found objects to textiles, from videogames and film to other people's vacation photos. As would be expected, the individual interpretations vary in not just the aforementioned inspirational media, but also artistic mediums. Life's always been about the little things. Those little things are just different for everyone. But with Open Terrain's four artists on display at 500X, 500 Exposition Ave., noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through November 23, there's a little something about little somethings for everyone. Call 214-828-1111 or visit 500x.org.
Saturdays, Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: Nov. 8. Continues through Nov. 23, 2008
