After mysteriously missing band practice last night, Tommy Atkins, the bass player for Fort Worth's heavy gothic-cabaret trio The Great Tyrant, was found dead in his home at noon today.

Behind singer Daron Beck and alongside drummer Jon Teague, Atkins was part of one of the top--if not the flat-out best and tightest--rhythm sections in town. No word yet on the cause of death, or of any planned memorials or services. But we'll certainly pass along that info as it comes.

For now, our thoughts are with his friends and family.
