A Friend of Unfair Park mighty proud of his Woodrow Wilson High School roots sends word that last night's Nightline featured two Texas-born aviation heroes: Denison's Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, but of course, and Dallas native and Woodrow grad Al Haynes. Haynes is an "aviation legend" who was among those whose heroics helped limit the loss of life aboard United Airlines Flight 232, which broke up during an emergency landing at Sioux City Airport in 1989. Indeed, as the ABC piece reminds, Haynes was portrayed by none other than Charlton Heston in the 1992 made-for-TV movie A Thousand Heroes. Haynes and Sullenberger have spoken since the latter became "The Hero Of Flight 1549."
